Americans Showcase Their Devotion to Klondike(R) Bars Through National Video Contest

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. , Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Would you travel to the Arctic, battle a beneath-the-bed monster, run away with "Mr. Wrong," or face a Hollywood villain for a tasty Klondike bar? Ice cream enthusiasts have demonstrated such dedication through Klondike's "What Would You Do for a Klondike Bar?" (R) national video contest. Four finalists are now vying for a grand prize of $100,000 and a one-on-one meet and greet with Andy Samberg , Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone of The Lonely Island and "Saturday Night Live." Klondike launched the humor-driven contest earlier this summer to challenge Americans to showcase their imaginative antics in response to the iconic question.

The contest Web site, http://www.KlondikeContest.com, was flooded with more than 319,000 visitors during the three-month contest timeframe. More than 500 unique video entries were submitted by ice cream fanatics, aspiring video makers and comedians alike. Videos were collected in four categories: Laughs - to tickle the funny bone; Flaunt It -- to show off unique capabilities; Did You See That? -- for the cool kid in all of us; and Everything Else - a category that encourages creativity. A panel of judges and the voting public helped to narrow the field to three semifinalists in each category. After 123,754 public votes were cast, four finalists proved to show no limit to the lengths they would go for a tasty Klondike bar:

Finalist submissions, which can be viewed at www.KlondikeContest.com, include:

-- Laughs: Gregory Carroll of Los Angeles, Calif. -- Flaunt It: Joel Levinson of Los Angeles, Calif. -- Did You See That? Jayson Wall of Nashville, Tenn. -- Everything Else: Oren Brimer of New York, N.Y.

"Klondike's well-known 'What Would You Do for a Klondike Bar?' tagline continues to permeate through pop culture and is immediately recognizable by Americans of all ages," said David Burrows , Senior Brand Director for Klondike. "We are very pleased with both the number and the quality of the contest videos. It's exciting to see how many Americans have been influenced by this iconic question and jumped at the chance to offer their own creative response; it will be a challenge to select a single winner."

America Votes with a Cash Incentive!

Consumers will help select the grand-prize winning video by voting for their favorites on www.KlondikeContest.com through August 30 , with the winner scheduled to be announced in September. Those who rate videos will be entered into a sweepstakes for a chance to win $25,000. Fans are eligible to enter the sweepstakes once a day.

A Sweet Grand Prize

The grand-prize winning video entrant will receive $100,000 and a trip for a one-on-one meet and greet with Andy Samberg , Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone of "Saturday Night Live." The team, collectively known as The Lonely Island, is best known for directing, writing and starring in hilarious, off- the-wall digital shorts, including "Lazy Sunday" and the Emmy Award-winning SNL digital short, "D*** in A Box" with Justin Timberlake . The comedy team also will be part of the overall judging panel to help select the grand-prize winner.

The Lonely Island team helped inspire Americans to submit their own video entries by creating a series of its own featuring a Klondike bar character. The first video, "The Phone Call," featured the Klondike bar on the phone with Andy Samberg , asking for help moving out of his apartment. "Moving Day" followed, featuring two of the Klondike bar's friends moving a couch. Andy Samberg and the Klondike bar have a staring contest in the aptly named third video, "Staring Contest." All three videos can be viewed at http://www.KlondikeContest.com.
